TheFrackingGuyIn the final video of the Fracking Facts series, Heartland research fellow Isaac Orr makes a strong economic case for hydraulic fracturing, also known as fracking. Calls to ban fracking are based on myths and misinformation regarding the environmental and health impacts of fracking. In 2015, NY State Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) fell susceptible to these falsities, becoming the first and only governor to ban the technology. He completely dismissed the economic prosperity that the fracking industry would have spurred in his state, especially in the rural communities.

Juxtapose the lack of opportunities in New York to the abundance of opportunities in neighboring state, Pennsylvania. Like the Empire State, Pennsylvania is naturally rich in natural gas reserves. It has embraced the fracking revolution and, because so, has experienced an economic boom. Hydraulic fracturing is reducing our carbon dioxide emissions, revitalizing local communities, and putting Americans to work in living-wage jobs.
